The senior managing director at Walker & Dunlop, Mo Beler has over 15 years of experience in debt and equity placement and capital markets. A member of the New York City Capital Markets Debt and Equity Team, Mo Beler focuses on structuring and sourcing financing for commercial real estate asset classes. There are several types of capital market instruments that have a relationship to the real estate market, such as stocks.
There isn’t a direct relationship between the real estate market and the stock market, but the two areas are indirectly linked by the fact that they influence consumer behavior in one another. An increase in real estate value is, for example, usually preceded by an increase in stock market value. Conversely, a drop in the stock market often results in a drop in real estate. Both markets ebb and flow in harmony, and they have been doing so for more than a decade.
